Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)

Do you or a family member suffer from TBI? Has your daily living been significantly been altered as a result of a traumatic event? Are you unable to focus, think straight, find the right words? Do you feel out of control of your moods and behaviors? Are you lacking self-esteem?

The Low Energy Neurofeedback System (LENS) is an advanced form of biofeedback that gently stimulates the brain in a way that relieves you from the effects of Traumatic Brain Injury—without medications.

How does LENS Neurofeedback provide relief?

When you are brain-injured your brain emits electromagnetic impulses of a particular pattern. For fractions of a second, the LENS Neurofeedback gently mirrors back your impulses – but in such a way that it corrects disregulated brainwave patterns arising from your traumatic brain injury.

LENS Neurofeedback treatment helps to restore the sense of self-control, stabilize high levels of reactivity and facilitate the process of healing and recovery, which might include counseling and psychotherapy. HeartMath, is a biofeedback technique for managing stress and enabling the relaxation response.

LENS Neurofeedback is particularly effective for those who suffer the effects of Head Trauma, whether physical( motor vehicle, gunshot wound, sports) or environmental( toxic exposure to mercury, for example). Victims of Head Trauma may suffer a wide range of symptoms and disorders, including: agitation, mood swings, explosiveness, lack of impulse control, Headache, Chronic Pain, Migraines, Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Seizures, PTSD, Anxiety, Depression, lack of motivation, low self-esteem, confusion, ‘brain fog’, cognitive and linguistic impairment, slowed processing, distractibility, concentration, short term memory, learning and organizational issues.

All of these can be addressed through the LENS Neurofeedback system.

During, and following a traumatic event the brain responds defensively by releasing neurochemicals to suppress over-activity, but may remain in a functionally rigid, protective, disconnected mode long afterwards.

The LENS Neurofeedback / EEG Biofeedback treatment delivers feedback of your brainwaves in a second, with slight changes,  via tiny radio frequencies. It can help boost EEG and create more flexibility, release ‘stuck’ brainwave patterns, and assist the brain’s natural neuroplasticity to create and build neural pathways. The LENS, in this way, is a catalyst for recovery, by freeing up the brain’s functionality for self-regulating and repairing its structure. The feedback of the brain’s signals enables the brain to reconnect to itself and heal itself.

Is LENS Neurofeedback experimental?

Not at all! Over 75,000 people have been treated since Dr Len Ochs invented the Low Energy Neurofeedback System in 1994. LENS integrates state-of-the-art research in neuropsychophysiology and behavioral biophysics into an empirically driven, individually customized treatment.

Over one hundred research papers on the effectiveness of neurofeedback and LENS have been published. The National Institute of Health sponsored a study of LENS for the treatment of Traumatic Brain Injury, and the government of the Netherlands conducted a large double-blind study of successful treatment of adult ADHD with LENS.

The LENS can not only facilitate pharmaceutical treatment, but also be a complimentary and alternative treatment for TBI. The LENS feedback system carries the very low electromagnetic signal back to the brain with a slight change from the person’s dominant frequency, called an ‘offset’. The approach is to disentrain the brain, helping it self-rectify, self-regulate and reduce dysfunctional patterns.  When self-regulation is enabled, symptoms tend to subside of themselves.

Anton Bluman is one of the leading experts in Westchester County, NY in applying LENS to treatment and recovery for sufferers of Traumatic Brain Injury. Licensed in counseling and certified in LENS Neurofeedback and healing therapies, with over eighteen years in healthcare, experienced in acute, sub-acute brain trauma units, rehab and private clinical practice, Anton has treated hundreds of people with LENS to help them live more rewarding, satisfying lives.
