Recovery from Trauma

Do you suffer from physical, emotional, psychological trauma or abuse? Are you living in survival mode, carrying emotional ‘wounds’, unable to control reactions when triggered? Are you having ongoing difficulty coping long after the traumatic event?

The Low Energy Neurofeedback System (LENS) is an advanced form of biofeedback that gently stimulates your brain in a way that relieves you from effects of Trauma—without medications.

How does LENS Neurofeedback provide relief?

When you are feeling the physical, psychological or environmental effects of trauma, your brain emits electromagnetic impulses of a particular pattern. For fractions of a second, the LENS Neurofeedback system gently mirrors back your impulses – but in such a way that it corrects those dysfunctional or disregulated patterns.

LENS is particularly effective for those suffering from trauma of any kind. Trauma shows up in a wide range of mental conditions, including TBI, Depression, Anxiety, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder,( PTSD), Insomnia, Chronic Pain, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia,  Migraines, Bipolar Disorder, Eating Disorders, Addictions, Stroke, as well as early childhood trauma, social, relationship issues, isolation, and cognitive dysfunction with‘brain-fog’.

Psychological Trauma may include PTSD, a result of life-threatening events or prolonged stress, with flashbacks triggered by sensory stimulation.

Traumatic events, including war, flooding, terrorist attacks, rape, cause limbic system disregulation, change brainwave patterns, and may trigger uncontrollable emotional reactivity. Memories are stored in the limbic system as survival or coping mechanisms for trauma which can result in a chronic stress response.

Physical trauma includes: Head Injury and TBI ( Traumatic  Brain Injury) involving wounds from an external source, and toxic environmental, chemical and electric exposure.

All of these can be addressed through the LENS Neurofeedback system.

Following a trauma the brain ‘protects’ by releasing neurochemicals and suppressing over-activity, but may remain in rigid, defensive mode long after the event. The LENS process of trauma recovery involves feedback via tiny radio frequencies, of a signal, hundreds of times smaller than a  cell phone, slightly changed from your brainwaves, to free up ‘stuck’ brainwave patterns caused by trauma. This allows the brain to self-adjust, self-regulate and normalize function in the central nervous system.

Is LENS Neurofeedback experimental?

Not at all! Over 75,000 people have been treated since Dr Len Ochs invented the Low Energy Neurofeedback System in 1994. LENS integrates state-of-the-art research in neuropsychophysiology and behavioral biophysics into an empirically driven, individually customized treatment.

Over one hundred research papers on the effectiveness of neurofeedback and LENS have been published. The national Institute of Health sponsored a study of LENS for the treatment of Traumatic Brain Injury, and the government of the Netherlands conducted a double-blind study of successful treatment of adult ADHD with LENS.

The LENS can not only facilitate pharmaceutical treatment, but also be a complimentary and alternative treatment for trauma. The LENS Neurofeedback process involves feedback in seconds, of your brainwaves, slightly modified , releasing dysfunctional patterns, allowing the brain to self-adjust and self-regulate. The LENS is a drug-free approach designed to bring calm, resilience, adaptability, flexibility and recovery to the central nervous system. With self-regulation enabled through the LENS, symptoms and issues related to trauma tend to subside of themselves.

The LENS can be applied alone, or in combination with counseling and HeartMath– a stress-management technique used with rhythmic breathing, to enable the relaxation response. Energy therapies such as EFT, tapping on meridian points, or Reconnective Healing may also be useful to gently relieve and release held fears and tensions.

Anton Bluman is one of the leading experts in Westchester County, NY in applying LENS to treatment and recovery from Trauma. Licensed in counseling and certified in LENS Neurofeedback and healing therapies, with over eighteen years healthcare experience in acute, sub-acute, rehab settings and private clinical practice, Anton has helped hundreds of people with LENS to help them live more rewarding, satisfying lives.
